The extreme cold weather that gripped the Pacific Northwest in mid-December underscored the importance of natural gas service reliability for homes and businesses in the Willamette Valley. NW Natural, Oregon’s largest natural gas distributor and a partner in the proposed Palomar Gas Transmission pipeline, relied on extraordinary effort from its crews to keep gas flowing following the failure of a piece of equipment on the interstate natural gas pipeline that currently provides NW Natural with all of its natural gas supply.
“The true test of a good company is how well it can respond to the unexpected,” said Gregg Kantor, NW Natural’s President and CEO . “We certainly didn’t predict that the interstate pipeline we rely on for natural gas would have a problem of this magnitude during the coldest weather of the year. But I couldn’t have hoped for a better response by our employees. They knew what had to be done, and they did it.”
